Ifgene Workshop on the Intrinsic Value and Integrity of Plants in the Context of Genetic Engineering

May 9 - 11, 2001
The Goetheanum, Dornach, near Basel, Switzerland

The workshop provides an opportunity for scientists, policy makers, members of regulatory bodies, NGOs, producers, processors and retailers to discuss and expand their knowledge of the intrinsic value of plants, to gain insight in the complexity of the concept and to share visions of implementation into legal regulations.

Ifgene has been formed to encourage a deeper dialogue about genetic engineering by giving special attention to:

  • the worldviews out of which people approach science and its application to genetic engineering
  • the moral and spiritual implications of genetic engineering.
