Biotechnology: the Science and the Impact

The conference will provide a forum for discussing potential applications of biotechnology and their implications for society- in both the developing and developed worlds. In particular: the potential role of biotechnology in alleviating problems of hunger and disease will be considered.

The conference will bring together leading international figures in biotechnological research and policy in order to de-mystify biotechnology, and to discuss its potential advantages and disadvantages. Talks on the science of biotechnology, including the latest breakthroughs from the human genome to agriceuticals, will lay the groundwork for discussions of policy.
